An astounding 8.18 crore ITRs were filed for AY 2023-24 up to 31st December 2023 which is 9% higher y-o-y as reported by Income Tax India.
Further, 1.60 crore audit reports and other forms were filed with the e-filing helpdesk team handled approximately 27.37 lakh queries from taxpayers up to 31.12.2023.
Additionally, the department reported increasing use of the AIS facility, resulting in the smoother and faster filing of ITRs as well as TIN 2.0, a digital e-pay tax payment platform, that enabled real-time credit of taxes to taxpayers which made ITR filing easier & faster.
*Important: The Department further requested the taxpayers to verify their unverified ITRs if any, within 30 days of filing the ITR to avoid any consequences
